16th of January 2010 will ever remain in the annals of history and in the minds of not only the People of Kabowei Kingdom of Delta State but in the minds of the entire Niger Delta of Nigeria. Never in the history of the Kabowei kingdom has been such a massive and tumultuous gathering of people from all works of life - the high, influential, low and poor people for a singular event. The Grand Reception of Dr. Chris Ekiyor was marked by pomp and pageantry. The Event which was chaired by Chief Alabo Graham Douglas, had in attendance Chief D.S.P. In another vein, IYC President Dr. Chris Ekiyor gets a grand reception in his home town Patani Delta State come 16th January 2010. This is being put together by chiefs, sons and daughters of Kabowei kingdom where Dr. Chris Ekiyor hails from. Already, there is a beehive of activities planning for the event. Expected in attendance, are dignitaries and personalities from all shades and works of life.

The Ijaw Youth Council organised a Symposium on Amnesty and its Strategic Implications to sustainable peace, with an end of year Dinner/Award night commemorating 11th year anniversary of Kaiama Declaration. The awards were designed to appreciate and encourage groups and individuals whom have added value to society and mankind.
