The entourage  from the residence were at the venue  before proceeding to the  Palace of the traditional  ruler  of Kabowei kingdom on a courtesy visit.  After the courtesy visit, the entourage proceeded to the venue of the Reception.  For Dr. Chris Ekiyor, it was a day the Kabowei people wanted to say  thank you to their son for his achievements, contributions to peace and excellent  leadership but little did he know that it was also a day the people have set aside to officially give their  go ahead and endorsement to fly the flag of the 2011 House of Representative member for Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency  in Delta State.  This mandate was glaring in all the addresses  presented from the Chairman, Chief Alabo Graham Douglas's opening address,  to the challenging address of  Frank Omari Commissioner for Housing in Delta state who represented His Excellency, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Executive Governor of Delta State to epoch making speech of Chief DSP Alameiseigha, Governor General of Ijaw nation who virtually moved the motion that  Dr. Chris Ekiyor be sent  to Bomadi/Patani Federal constituency  in Delta State  because of his achievements and enormous leadership qualities.

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President of Nigeria and Gov. Timipre Sylva, of Bayelsa State were also ably represented. Leaders of various groups including the Ijaw National Congress (INC) , past leaders of IYC all spoke and poured encomiums on Dr. Chris Ekiyor describing as a leader with a vision enumerating his achievements as IYC President convincing everyone that he will definitely do better and make more impact at the federal level. The Youths of Kabowei  Kingdom were not left out in the conviction that Chris Ekiyor  is the voice that they seek in 2011 as they coloured the event and arena with superbly printed TEE Shirts and banners with inscription"  DR CHRIS EKIYOR, (IYC PRESIDENT) THE VOICE WE SEEK BOMADI/PATANI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY - 2011)

Everyone was astonished as the Citation of Dr. Chris Ekiyor was been read. It was really an intimidating piece.

Dr. Chris Ekiyor, who was overwhelmed by the honour and show of solidarity,  in response said he was humbled by the support and  love shown him. He said he was just doing his bit in the small capacity Ijaw people offered him to serve and did not know that people took note. He said that if they still give him the opportunity like they have said, he will still give them his best.

Highlight of the event was the solidarity march of  Dr. Chris Ekiyor and High Chief Government Egbemupolo,  (Tompolo),  that received so much ovation.  The Reception continued  with a well attended  all night musical  episode at  the Family house of Dr. Chris Ekiyor. Trully, Kabowei Kingdom, will never forget in a hurry the 16th of January 2010 when they honoured their deserving son Dr. Chris Ekiyor whom they simply described as an enigma.
